Piano music started with the invention of the fortepiano, which is the primitive version of the current piano. The fortepiano is the music instrument Mozart, Haydn, and the young Beethoven used to create their (classical) piano music. The fortepiano evolved starting in Beethoven’s time and culminated in the creation of the modern grand piano in the latter part of the 19th century.
