Montague Rhodes James (M.R. James) is widely regarded as one of the best Ghost Story writers ever. He redefined the genre by abandoning the formal Gothic cliches of his predecessors and using 'real life' contemporary settings.
He is known as the originator of the 'antiquarian ghost story' and garnered many admirers, including the Master, H.P. Lovecraft. His work influences contempory writers such as Stephen King and Ramsey Campell.
In 2009 Sam Raimi released the movie "Drag me to Hell", a story loosely based on M.R.James' "Casting the Runes" (included in this anthology).
Here we gather together many of M.R. James' Ghost stories into a Bumper Anthology for your reading pleasure!
